Notification

Novel tobacco products are tobacco products that do not fall into one of the categories cigarettes, roll-your-own tobacco, pipe tobacco, water pipe tobacco, cigars, cigarillos, chewing tobacco, snuff or tobacco for oral use - and are to be placed on the market for the first time after 19 May 2014.

According to Section 10a of the Tobacco and Non-Smoker Protection Act (TNRSG), a notification is required for the placing on the market of novel tobacco products from 1 January 2026.

Fees

On the basis of Section 10a (7) of the Tobacco and Non-Smokers Protection Act (TNRSG), cost-covering fees for the notification of novel tobacco products are set by ordinance.

The fee for the notification of novel tobacco products pursuant to Section 10a TNRSG is EUR 3,000. If several product variants are notified with one notification, the notification fee must be paid for each product variant.

Payment of the fee

Please send a letter stating the product ID of each product variant you have registered with EU-CEG to tabak@ages.at
