On 1 January 2021, in accordance with Section 6e of the Austrian Health and Food Safety Act (GESG), the Office for Tobacco Coordination (Tobacco Office) was established as a joint institution of the Ministry of Health and AGES and entrusted with the tasks associated with the enforcement of the Tobacco and Non-Smoker Protection Act (TNRSG).
